• Travel, 1878. Hiram Blankinship joined a train of nine wagons and followed the Trail of Tears route as he headed north central Tennessee (Macon County) up to Paducah, Kentucky. The wagon train then crossed the Ohio River at Golconda. From Golconda, the train went north through the southern tip of Illinois and crossed the Mississippi River at Cape Gerardo, Missouri. From there, the train went through a part of the Ozarks and eventually arrived in Kansas. He homesteaded a farm in Chautauqua County, Kansas.
