Noted events in his life were: • Military Service: American Revolution, 1781. 3 The family's only known Tory, he was employed by the British Army as a waggoner in August 1781 at Lloyd's Neck, New York. After the war, in April 1783, he was among a group of loyalists who went to New Brunswick, Canada, where they received land from the British government for loyality to the crown. Joseph married Margaret Dawley on 17 Aug 1766 in Exeter, , Rhode Island, United States.1 (Margaret Dawley was born about 1746 1 and died about 1780 1.) Joseph next married Elizabeth about 1784 in Saint John, , New Brunswick, Canada.1 |
