Noted events in his life were: • Military Service: War of 1812. 1 3 He enlisted in a troop of New York cavalry in the War of 1812, and was wounded in the Battle of Bridgwater, Canada, in 1814, suffering gunshot wounds and saber cuts for which he was later pensioned.
